Howard Levinsky
Senior Principal Specialist - Combustion Processes, and Professor
DNV GL / University of Groningen

Howard Levinsky is Senior Principal Specialist in Combustion Processes at DNV GL, and Professor of Combustion Technology at the University of Groningen. He is a specialist in elementary processes in gas combustion, studying ignition phenomena and the relation between flame structure and pollutant formation using laser-spectroscopic measurements. Understanding the effects of fuel composition on end-use equipment based on first principles has been a recurring theme in his research for more than 30 years. Recent work in his group varies from research towards characterizing the physical-chemical processes responsible for engine knock for stationary and LNG engines to providing the technical foundations for policy regarding the introduction of "new" sustainable and natural gases.
